Hobbles and my day and pictures of yummy cake. A chat about CDs vs digital tunes.

I work up super-early looking at my novel and trying to write the end. Then I dragged myself out of bed, showered and found a library book which had been missing. However the worse thing was I forgot to renew my library books so I got fined.

I still want to know why the council can't send alerts for renewal. I bet fines are a income source in their accounts. Went to visit the new Waitrose in Kings Cross. It's very flash. Posh but doesn't have much in it. What I mean is that you can't do  real shop for food. It's kinda like a flagship window display. I'd say my local one has more variety in terms of shopping for families.

However it had a brilliant bakery, the cook school is located there and a juice bar. I'm not sure the target market however my local Waitrose shall not be losing me to it.

Next thing was I was pondering about the advice given in the self-publishing conference and the best way to go marketing one's self. I think I need to focus on the things I like.

Mainly food, talking about food, taking pictures, a bit of drawing and other odds and ends. Not sure yet. Will see. I like taking pictures of cakes and food in general.

This was at afternoon tea at Sketchies off Regent's Street, a send off present from my colleagues at my former place of work. I had a fabulous time because I saved it to celebrate a special occasion.

This is a Chinese cream sponge cake. I get this for every birthday.  I just love it!

This was a delicious looking red velvet cake however was too stale so I returned it. It was sold in one of those trendy cinema bars (which shall remain nameless) and just didn't justify the price. I think because they wanted to be trendy the kept the cakes out which made them stale very quickly. Haven't been back since.

Back to my day. Bought a nice slice of chocolate cake from the new Waitrose - my phone went flat so no pictures. Shared that with family. Family gave me a new CD player. Yes, I'm still using CDs - they are master copies, according to Sharon Osbourne and don't get corrupted or deleted in error. I'd rather by a CD than an iTunes MP3. I do buy MP3s but only for singles.

The problem is when one changes or upgrades devices or open new accounts. It's hard to keep track. Give me CDs any day. I even have some records vinyl knocking about. Digital gets corrupted. I know  CDs get scratched as well. Anyway people do what they want.

However I do like ebooks - I have many - I buy many  however for technical books if I really use them, I get the print version. I know. I know. I know. I need to get with the times.

That's it.
